Laura Álvarez Fernández

Laura is a half-woman-half-mermaid born in Valencia, Spain who somehow managed to swim across the Atlantic to take up residence in The Bronx, NY in 2009.  Laura has a unique perspective on the world. Her big eyes manage to capture things unseen to mere humans and through her art she shares the experience of how she sees life with the world. 
With her art, Laura wants us to grasp how wonderful the world would be if we could mingle with dragons, squirrels, flowers, skulls, and dancing cupcakes. Her work never fails to bring a smile to strangers faces. Everybody instantly falls in love with her because she sings that mermaid song that drives sailors crazy in love to the bones.
